Teachers in their Training unprepared and can hardly be any advice. - Since the spring of 2009 there is in Offenbach am Main lecture and consultation events for parents and teachers, to provide assistance to come in more difficult situations.

What really giftedness?

In giftedness an intelligence quotient above is understood of 130. About 80% of all gifted children are at school to order. Not without problems, as other children, but they eventually find their way.

But at about 20 % Of highly gifted children and adolescents occurs in the course of their adolescence to developmental difficulties to severe developmental disabilities. This risk group is at risk in their educational careers and social integration, due to and not in spite of their high ability.

power failure, but under-challenged? Snotty behavior, but more intelligent than others? Sometimes these impressions come into conflict with amateur plausible ideas. Measure intelligence tests reliable? Note always test administrator with the specified conditions? Are children simply testable? - Important issues which demand that the concerned teacher and parent judgments.

A gifted child who behaves oppositional or resignation will force attention. Parents who have to guide a long time such a child need help themselves. A defiant child to wring the normal work performance, can weigh on the daily lives of a family significantly. Such situations require professional intervention essential, they should not persist for long periods. Risks arise not only in school performance, but also for the cohesion of the family and the personality development of children.

Offenbacher The school has experience with these children and is sometimes the last resort
